This Limited Release Kim's Chardonnay is a complex and beautiful expression of a classic Wilyabrup Chardonnay. A classic Margaret River chardonnay to be sipped and savoured. White peach, lemon curd and floral hints are gently woven into a focused tapestry of crisp clean acid and pure fruit tones of freshly cut rock melon and orange zest. Finishing with a precise, succulent minerality and lean, creamy oak.

Knee Deep Limited Release Wines are iconic Margaret River single vineyard varietal wines produced from select parcels of fruit. Each wine is named after one of Phil & Sue Childs 3 Daughters Kelsea, Kim & Hayley. With limited production, bottles are individually numbered in each vintage series.

2013 Kim's Chardonnay

Winemakers comments Hand picked. Whole-bunch pressed to extract only the purest juice with minimal solids. Whole-bunch pressing grapes yields juices and wines with greater and more delicate aromatic complexity as well as elegant, less volumous, palates. Cold settled for 2-3 days, after which the clear juice and light solids are removed from the heavy solids (which are discarded). Fermented in French Oak Barrels. Ferment occurs at 12 degC (cold ferment) in order to preserve freshness. Secondary malolactic 20 - 30%, occurs on barrel.
Maturation Aged in barrel on lees for 10 months before bottling. Battonage occurs every 2 weeks. French (Allier and Voges forests), 33 - 40% new.

This is a quality Chardonnay - "winemaking" celebrating the fruit rather than muting it. The citric drive demands another sip. There's an underlying, ethereal mineral line that carries the malo. Delicious.
